Flip the Script is an international collective of writers, creators, composers & teaching artists building accessible and engaging new musical theater work for young audiences everywhere.

We began collaborating at The American School in Switzerland Summer Program, writing original musicals for our students. When faced with casting challenges such as ever evolving group numbers and varying musical backgrounds from all over the world, we decided that we would craft our own shows.

These musicals would have enough flexibility in casting sizes, genders, and experience so we could teach the musical in the short time we had.

What started as an idea developed into a collective, an international collaboration between dozens of teaching artists and creators together to make wholly new and original musicals for students ages 6-18 to perform.

In total we’ve written over two dozen scores together. We believe that big change can be found in small ways, and that life lessons can be found in art and in music. We believe in big imagination, and that every child is born an artist capable of great brilliance when given the chance and proper support.

Our shows deal with themes of COMMUNITY and ALIENATION, IMAGINATION and WONDER, DISCOVERY and ADVENTURE, protecting our ENVIRONMENT and the importance of ART, HELPING OTHERS and TELLING THE TRUTH, BELIEVING IN YOURSELF, DREAMING BIG, and DOING THE RIGHT THING.

Our musicals are flexible in how they are performed, so if you, your school or theater program is interested in producing one and have specific needs, let us know, and we will see if we can make it work!
